Communication Manager

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Manage public relations and communications to enhance public awareness of the need for blood donations and to achieve annual collection goals.  Establish strategic direction for communication and public relations efforts, develop short and long term plans, cultivate external print and electronic media sources and enhance American Red Cross image in the region.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

·  Establish strategic direction for public relations and communication efforts to ensure achievement of American Red Cross Blood Services collection goals and organizational objectives.

·  Develop overall communication plan, with input from management and Board and Committee members.

·  Assist with media contacts for American Red Cross Blood Service, including press releases, media inquiries and special project information.

·  Oversee the development and design of internal and external newsletters, brochures, posters and other communication print materials to support the recruitment effort and enhance the image of American Red Cross Blood Service.

·  Develop and implement annual public relations/communications budget to ensure sufficiency and efficient use of financial resources to achieve stated goals.

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

·  Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related field, or equivalent (Master’s degree preferred).

·  Minimum seven years of progressively responsible public relations of communications management experience.

·  Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.

·  Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpretation skills

·  Proven ability to work independently while developing a functioning team among peers and subordinates.
