Qualifications:  MA/MSW or related degree in mental health from an accredited school and appropriate State of Michigan licensure required.  Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent experience in mental health/human services field. A complete understanding and knowledge of current federal, state, and local statues relating to the delivery of services to children and families will be essential. Familiarity with Medicaid policies and procedures and a general knowledge of least two (2) of the following systems: Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency, Michigan Department of Human Services, Wayne County Department of Children and Family Services (juvenile justice), and the Wayne County Juvenile Court system will be important. Must have knowledge of Systems of Care philosophy and principals.  Must be knowledgeable and have an understanding of the Mental Health Code.  Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of computer programs including MS Office and dedicated software systems, experience with CMHC software system preferable.  Must have strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.  Must have excellent organizational skills.  A current valid driver’s license with favorable driving record is required. Must also have access to private transportation for daily job performance.  Additional requirements include a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of our staff members and the programs they represent.  Must have the ability to appropriately handle crisis situations.

Position Summary

The coordinator will be responsible for the oversight and resolution of barriers that impact the delivery of service to clients within the System of Care. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM; however, specific tasks and/or processes will require evening and weekend hours.

Specific ResponsibilitiesServe community committees, working groups, and other bodies as assigned. Review referrals for program criteria.Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, funding bodies and community organizations.Investigate and document system barriers or issues that impact the service delivery. Make recommendations for resolution toward the elimination of those barriers. Monitor outcomes of those barriers/concerns for assigned cases.Facilitate collaborative meetings between stakeholders, workers and families to resolve system barriers. Ensure children, youth and family involvement in all treatment related meetings and activities.Assist with the development of cross systems training curriculum and participate in the training.Complete 25 hours of position and population specific training on an annual basis.Maintain active and favorable licensure in field of specialty with the state of Michigan.Perform work in compliance with Michigan Mental Health Code.
