Join us in Portland, OR. Copyeditor As a copyeditor, you will ensure that copy standards are consistently applied to a wide range of print publications and electronic media. You will also edit and proofread drafts for style, accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness, taking into consideration conventions of copywriting; Kaiser Permanente style, branding, and voice guidelines; reading level; and other requirements as needed. Additionally, you will assist writers by writing headlines and other copy when appropriate and as workload allows.A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or humanities is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Three years of editing experience, along with a thorough knowledge of standard principles of writing (English usage, grammar, syntax) and conventions of marketing and advertising copywriting are also required. Thorough knowledge of copyediting techniques and notation; knowledge of basic principles and techniques of marketing, publication planning, and development; and excellent copyediting skills are essential. Must have the ability to edit for publication in a wide variety of formats and styles, including electronic media. Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position. Basic knowledge of insurance industry and health care delivery, the ability to communicate effectively about editorial and design issues and objectives, and a working knowledge of desktop publishing and publication planning and development are all preferred.
