We are currently searching for qualified individuals to fill a challenging and rewarding position as a Direct Service Employee (DSE). This position will be based in Bakersfield, CA. The MENTOR Network is a national human services organization. We serve people with developmental disabilities, children with emotional and behavioral challenges, and people with acquired brain injury by offering community-based, residential, in-home and out-of-home services to fit each individual's needs and preferences. Job responsibilities may/will include, but are not limited to:Ø Ensures follow through of specific programs developed by the Interdisciplinary Team in the community and in the residence.Ø Complete necessary documentation, reports, service summaries, job-related measurement tools etc. in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner.Ø Assist, supervise and train participants in basic living skills (grooming, laundry, cooking, room cleaning, shopping, toileting, feeding, turning in bed, etc) according to the Living Skills program and charting requirements. Ø Work as a member of the treatment team. Cooperate and effectively communicate with other staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming for each participant.Ø Manage physical transfers, as necessary, of participants following training guidelines.Ø Facilitate leisure planning with participants. Assist participants with development of, and participation in, free time activities. Accompany participants on leisure activities providing therapeutic programming as identified in participant’s IPP.Ø Maintain cleanliness and appearance of residence at all times. Ø Implement participant treatment programs and related tasks, procedures, and expectations as identified and instructed by supervisor.Ø Accompany KTH participants on job or educational sites to coach as assigned..Qualifications:Ø Minimum of 60 units of college in a human services field or minimum of 1-year direct care experience working with people with developmental disabilities, and/or people with severe maladaptive behaviors.Ø High school diploma or G.E.D.Ø Current California Drivers License, insurance, and registration.Ø DSP -Year 1 Certification within 6 months of hire.Ø Must be able to pass a background check, drug use check, and physical according to relevant regulations before working with Transition Home Residents.
