DIRECTOR, WALK IN CARE CENTER
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Manager of Walk In Care Center is responsible to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of departmental patient care delivery. Is responsible and accountable for Walk In Care Center operational activities, which includes consistent compliance with Unity Health System goals, objectives and mission of quality patient care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education BSN; Master degree in Nursing or Healthcare.
Preferred Experience Minimum of three years acute clinical experience.
Required Certification/Licensure Registered in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse.
DUTIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Each Employee consistently demonstrates the following essential functions:
Assumes responsibility for staffing and scheduling personnel. Assignments reflect appropriate utilization of personnel.
Evaluates performance of personnel and maintains ongoing communications/feedback to staff regarding performance.
Develops and assets unit goals and objectives annually. Communicates to staff.
Acts as a support/resource person for the Walk In Care Center (WICC). Accepts organizational accountability for services provided to all recipients within Unity and the community served.
Develops, supports and mentors the Group Leader, as applicable, in his/her role to compliment the leadership of the unit.
Responsible for communication dissemination from Administration. Implements Unity’s vision, mission, plans and standards in the Emergency Department.
Assures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development for personnel.
Fosters a climate conducive for educational experiences for nursing students, medical students, residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistant.
Actively participates on assigned hospital committees as WICC representative.
Develops, implements and evaluates a unit Quality Improvement Plan in conjunction with the Department Medical Director.
Participates in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
Maintains a clinical environment that supports the WICC personnel in provision of quality, up-to-date, professional continuity of care.
Assures completion/investigation of incident reports, patient complaints, hospital variances, and medication tracking, with appropriate follow-up action.
Participates in community-focused committee: Community Advisory Board.
Maintains ongoing communication and oversight from WICC staff to include Mid-level activity.
Seeks ideas for marketing of WICC to the community.
Maintains open communication with EMS community, facilitate EMS flow through WICC.
Participates in planning and monitoring the budget for the WICC Department.
