Data Architect - IT - ( Tacoma - WA )

The Data Architect teammate will be responsible for the database design including data modeling, relational design, performance tuning and proper normalization.  The team is small in nature so the successful candidate will be adept at working closely with developers and business resources. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  None  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.  Review and design logical and physical data models designing for increased robustness, performance, testing of applications, analysis of application and database issues, software development, technical design, and technical review. Lead architectural design for new solutions of complex database problems ensuring system qualities such as performance, scalability, availability, and maintainability are met. Participate in code development by actively writing code and conducting unit testing. Independently develop feature designs for multiple, complex features. Design technical mechanisms to implement timely data transportation, transformation and/or replication to facilitate information sharing among applications. Manage current and future needs in data design and content. Resolve semantic discrepancies in data definitions that arise among multiple sources and projects. Gain consensus among users on common business data definitions. Design technical mechanisms to ensure data integrity and associated controls. Ensure data protection, including security and availability. Define and manage the data structures required to support the enterprise. Support multiple projects in understanding and improving existing data sets and build new data sets and data structures as required for managing the distribution, replication, and archiving of data throughout the enterprise. Demonstrated capacity to work within multiple software development life cycles using processes such as agile, and extreme programming, (Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required):  Education/Training: Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Software Engineering required. Specialized Knowledge/Skills: Advanced skills in data design, logical modeling and physical implementation of relational and dimensional databases using SQL and Oracle.
