Developmental Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Developmental Specialist performs a variety of professional work in developmental and psychological evaluation, including psychometric testing, family counseling, behavioral and parent training, and consultation with colleagues, pediatricians, and community organizations. Primary responsibility is conducting behavioral parent training with families of children with autistic spectrum disorders. Responsibilities include conducting social skills groups for children with ASD or various ages. May include parent support groups, lectures, and professional training as well as program development. Support in research activities, grant writing, and date management is required. Responds differentially to children based upon child's age and understanding of the child's developmental level/disability(ies). Seeks to be informed of cultural differences and responds appropriately to the diverse cultures served by the clinic. Developmental Specialist performs a variety of professional work, parent education and training, and programming for children with autistic spectrum disorder. Support in research activities; grant writing and data management required. Responds differentially to children based upon the child's age and understanding of the child's developmental level/disability(ies). Seeks to be informed of cultural differences and responds appropriately to the diverse cultures served by the clinic. Experience with group programming and behavioral techniques required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in related discipline 2 years experience in field related to area of specialty Demonstrated competency in varied treatment modalities for children with special needs Computer skills sufficient to perform data entry, production of educational materials and word processing PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with young children with autism including treatment intervention skills in behavioral management specifically with autism spectrum disorders and previous parent education experience Greater than 2 years of directly related experience Bilingual English/Spanish EOE/M/F/D/V
