As a Direct Support Professional you will provide supervision, care and support to individuals with mental retardation/mental health to assure that their safety and basic living needs are met. You will assist in the development of Individual Support Plans, implement programs, record related data and summarize progress. Responsibilities include encouraging growth toward independence in self-care, activities of daily living, socialization, recreational activities, self –concept development, community living skills and support in expression of choices.
WE CURRENTLY HAVE FULL-TIME, PART-TIME, AND SUBSTITUTE HOURS AVAILABLE FOR VARIOUS SHIFTS.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Provide person centered support to all individuals.
* Introduces new experiences, offers and implements choices of individuals.
* Actively prepares and participates in all required Individual Support Plans, monitoring, outcome based interviews and staff meetings.
* Teach skills for adult life in social, recreational, leisure, community and household activities.
* Ensures health and safety by following each individual’s plan for nutrition, exercise, medication, therapies and other specific health and safety goals.
* Promotes effective teamwork through effective communication with other Direct Support Professionals, Home Life Coordinators, therapists and management staff.
Requirements include:
* High School Diploma or GED.
* At least 18 years of age
* Valid driver’s license.
* Participation and completion of a paid 3-week pre-service training program.
* Experience working directly with adults with mental retardation/mental health preferred.
* Experience providing supports to individuals with behavioral health a plus.
* Excellent oral & written communication skills.
* Patience and flexibility is a must.
* Ability to work with a variety of people in various settings.
