THE DIRECTOR OF HIM / IP CODING is a senior level management staff position reporting directly to our Vice President of Coding Services.

 

 

SUMMARY:

 

The Director of Inpatient Coding is responsible for overseeing division-wide Health Information Management policies, procedures, and activities.  This person serves as division knowledge expert in medical records coding and related compliance issues.  He/she will lead and collaborate with clients and facility management while assuring compliance in coding with respect to quality, production, and requirements related to medical records and HIPAA. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manages outsourced facility coding team; emphasis on quality and efficiencyParticipates in planning and creating the strategic and operational design of the service line, as well as other plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision of The Coding SourceAssists in providing health information-related education and training to our employeesServes as an internal consultant in areas such as documentation, privacy, security, and other areas of Health Information ManagementCreates and maintains up to date coding exams and screening forms to assist in hiring qualified consultantsEnsures compliance w/federal /state laws, regulations, standards related to health information and coding principlesConducts /QA audits on our coders work to ensure quality and quantity standards are being met

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Administration/ Medical Records Administration from an accredited program by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).Certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential is desirable.A minimum of seven (7) years of professional medical records/HIM experience, including at least five (5) years of coding experience. Prior management / supervisory experience of a medical coding staff.

 

THE CODING SOURCE, LLC offers competitive salaries plus end of year bonus along with a comprehensive benefits package.  We prefer this position to be stationed in our new corporate office in West Los Angeles.
