The hospital ranks in the top 50 hospitals in the country and anticipates a 19% growth in staff over the next 10 years.  The hospital is situated on a beautiful 69-acre campus in Providence, Rhode Island.The Director, Materials Management reports to the Vice President, Cardiac Services and Materials Management, Rhode Island Hospital.  Plans, coordinates, and directs Materials Management operations, consisting of Purchasing, Warehousing, and, Receiving/Shipping for all facilities within the Lifespan system. Plans, coordinates, and directs operations for Central Supply (CSD) and OR Material Management at Rhode Island Hospital.  Ensures the effective and efficient purchase, receipt, storage and distribution of all supplies in accordance with established procedure within Lifespan including all affiliates that participate in the centralized Materials management program.Directs/oversees department management and staff.  Reviews work for accuracy and completeness.Position requires the knowledge normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree. Degree or major in Business and/or Health Administration required.Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and materials management systems and programs, negotiating, communication and management skills.EXPERIENCE:Seven to ten years of experience with increasingly responsible experience related to materials management.  Strong background in Materials Management information system, preferred.  Candidates with prior experience in healthcare, preferred.
