Director Secretary / The Heart Center

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provides secretarial support for the clinical and educational activities of physicians, nurses, or other support staff with other Heart Center office staff. Types test, procedure, and diagnostic reports under the direction of the Cardiologist with distribution to the chart and referring physician in a timely manner. Ensures clients are registered and provides all necessary elements of information from the client for each physician’s chart. Schedules clients confirming the appointment with calls to the family. Ensures all correspondence are accurately recorded, available, filed and mailed as needed. Accepts and directs phone calls to keep the department running efficiently. Prepares and files reports needed for insurance companies. Keeps accurate, timely databases for outreach and coordination activities as requested by Practice Manager and/or Director.

Acts as a customer service representative for CHMCA by promoting the "Spirit of Service" attitude, exhibiting the attitudes and behaviors that comprise the House Rules regarding greetings courtesy, respect, empathy, communications, privacy, silence, cooperation, appearance, confidentiality, initiative, and anticipation.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Position requires good communication and organizational skills, 3 to 4 years of secretarial experience with a minimum typing speed of 55 WPM, excellent transcription skills, medical terminology and working knowledge of computer word processing (word perfect). Well versed in office procedures. Familiarity with CPT coding and experience in dealing with managed care issues.
