Director of CSS Program

South Bronx Mental Health Council., Inc. has provided mental health services to its community since 1981. We employ nine psychiatrists, thirty-four LCSWs, 9 CASACs, a Ph.D. psychologist, four nurses as well as support staff. We are free-standing and not-for profit.

We are looking for a full-time Director of CSS to replace our present director, who is retiring in the next three months. The position manages four LCSWs, an LPN, two clericals, a porter and works with a dedicated full-time psychiatrist. The program has an active case load of 250 clients. The essential duties of this position include: providing high-quality services to our clients, maintaining appropriate levels of service and proper case load management, and helping to meet the Council's mission of advocacy, rehabilitation, and community empowerment. The Director does not have a case load.

The CSS Program is located at 1241 Lafayette Avenue in the Bronx. Also at that site is  MICA Continuing Day Treatment Program and the Chemical Dependency program. These three programs report to a full-time on-site Co-Director of Clinical Services, who reports to the Executive Director.

At 781 East 142nd Street are Adult Outpatient Services, Children and Adolescents Program/School Site Mental Health Project and Continuing Day Treatment program. (We also have a large community residences program.)

This full-time exempt position is for Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The position requires an LCSW or CASAC, or a Masters Degree with certification in Alcoholism Counseling and/or Chemical Abuse. Candidates should have at least three years experience in the administration of a relevant treatment program.

Benefits are excellent. We offer family health insurance that includes spouse and children to the age of 21, with $25 co-pay, available after one month of employment. Family dental insurance also covers spouse and children, with reimbursement up to $1,500 annually per individual. Life insurance and long-term disability is also provided. The Council pays the entire premium with no deduction from your paycheck.

The pension is completely paid for by The Council with no match from any employee. Contributions are the equivalent of 6% of salary.

Benefit days include 20 days vacation, 12 sick days, 15 holidays and 4 heat days. Benefit days are accruable.

Salary is from $62,000, depending on experience and education.
