Eden Medical Center is a 387-bed, not-for-profit medical center with approximately 2000 employees at our two campuses. The Eden Campus in scenic Castro Valley includes Eden Medical Center, Laurel Grove Acute Rehabilitation Hospital and Baywood Court Skilled Nursing Facility. The San Leandro campus includes San Leandro Hospital. Eden is home to the regional Level II Trauma Center for Southern Alameda County, the Sutter East Bay Neuroscience Center, adult psychiatry, a wide range of rehabilitation services, a complete Birthing Center, Community Cancer Center, advanced imaging services and complete surgical and acute-care services.Through our affiliation with Sutter Health, Eden Medical Center is part of a large network of not-for-profit hospitals and care centers in Northern California and is linked to nearly 30 acute care hospitals and 4,000 physicians throughout the region. Together, we’re working to improve the health of our communities.Plans, organizes, direct and evaluates the internal and external communication programs and strategies for Eden Medical Center and develops working relationships with government officials and their staff. Reviews proposed changes in the medical center’s policies or practices for probable effect on public opinion, counsels senior management, Board of Directors and medical staff leadership regarding the public relations implication of policies and actions, formulates and directs strategies for communicating actions and changes in the medical center’s policies or practices. Develops and administers a public relations program designed to improve understanding of the medical center’s objectives, achievements and mission, formulates and direct actions, policies and programs to foster positive public relations and promote understanding and identification with the hospital and confidence in the medical center. Programs include special events and meetings, written and electronic communications (website), community outreach, community education and other strategies. Plans and directs internal communication programs, works with executive, medical and hospital staff and board of Directors to formulate, explain and get commitment to strategic goals.Plans, directs and evaluates community and government affairs programs at both the Eden and San Leandro Hospital campuses; guides leadership on projects and activities, and conducts special studies of problems or opportunities in individual communities. Builds positive relationship with elected officials and community members.Plans, organizes and directs media relations, determines the appropriateness of media requests for information and formulates the content, timing and manner of media releases in conformance with hospital and medical codes of ethics, serves as official spokesperson for the medical center. Conducts media training for leadership as appropriate. Plans, organizes and manages marketing, advertising, promotion and publicity activities for the medical center, prepares marketing budgets, estimates expenditures and evaluates effectiveness of marketing programs, selects directs and evaluates work of outside agencies/vendors and media contracts in advertising programs. Works with Sutter Health Communications Department to ensure consistent messaging and identity. Directs, manages and reviews the development of information and promotional materials such as brochures, annual reports and newsletters, to ensure consistent, quality image, establishes standards for the development of materials and reviews and edits work to ensure compliance to identity standards. Ensures consistent use of hospital logo and brand.Organizes, directs and coordinates functions and activities of department, monitors area for compliance with Policies and Procedures, regulation and standards and takes corrective action when needed. Interacts with other department directors and managers and participates in committees to facilitate that department is meeting organization goals.Works with Sutter Health leadership and counterparts to achieve system goals and initiatives, ensures ongoing communication and coordination with Sutter Health on public relations, marketing, government affairs and other communications issues. Develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure that department operates within budget Master’s Degree or equivalent preferred. Bachelor’s Degree5 years hospital public relations experiencePublic relations, journalism, organizational communication, government relations experiencePrior management experience role with responsibility for hospital public relations or government relations.
