Director of Support Services

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the President/CEO, the Director of Support Services will oversee the daily operations of the Maintenance/Housekeeping Departments and will perform various duties ranging from routine to skilled. These duties include repairs, alterations, and modifications of hospital buildings and equipment. Preventative maintenance will be regularly performed on specified equipment. The Director is responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff. During their duties the Director will react to and correct all unsafe conditions to insure the safety of patients, visitors and employees. These responsibilities extend to all hospital-owned or adjacent property.

 

§         Direct a staff of maintenancehousekeeping personnel in the fulfillment of project assignments with quality and on schedule

§         Maintain the interior and exterior of all building and grounds in all seasons

·        Confer with management and other department heads to plan preventive maintenance programs and to schedule inspections and major overhauls in coordination with other operating activities

§         Respond immediately to maintenance and housekeeping stat calls and alarm codes in accordance with departmental policies.

§         Complete proper documentation on departmental and hospital forms in a timely manner.

§         Perform assigned preventative maintenance at the assigned times, to insure proper operation of hospital equipment and reduce the risk of equipment failure.

§         Perform and have a general working knowledge of electrical, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, boiler maintenance, and reading of blue prints.

§         Assist contractors in the removal of snow and salting of sidewalks, helipad, and all hospital owned property to maintain a safe environment during inclement weather.

§         Perform general landscaping duties to include trimming of grass, trees, brush, bushes and lawns.

§         Participate on the hospital’s Fire Response Team.

§         Participate in any continuing education and yearly mandatory training as proscribed by  DOH, OSHA, state, federal or local laws.

§         Be self-motivated, identifying deficiencies or work that may need to be performed while in areas of the hospital and react accordingly to correct. Duties shall be carried out according to safety practices, with the highest regard for safety of self, patients, visitors and employees.
