Distribution Manager Req. # 60832Position Description Manage all aspects of the distribution center and distribution center personnel. Responsible for leadership, training, communication, facilitating teams, objective setting, performance management, personnel data administration, and asset management. Strongly influence cost saving strategies resulting in significant savings for Medtronic. Act as a key resource and escalation point for internal customers and suppliers.  Provide the highest quality standards that will insure the satisfaction of all customers. Insure that the Center(s) is in compliance with all Regulatory Agencies and that the operation adheres to all policies and procedures to foster an organization committed to continual improvement. Position Responsibilities Maintain efficient and effective Distribution operation: ensure accuracy and timeliness of daily orders, ensure departments are properly staffed to meet order timeliness standards, ensure personnel are trained on department SOPs. Works with Distribution Managers, Customer Solutions and Carriers to support strategies relating to order management and support objectives. Ensures Medtronic corporate, SOX, OSHA, FDA, EHS and other standards are enforced and escalates potential non-compliance to Management. Provide training and insure compliance to ISO, FDA, GMP and other applicable regulations and procedures in the operation of the Corona Distribution Center Ensure customers expected needs are satisfied in the delivery of their product. Budgetary Control: Capital, develop and adhere to spending projections - AOP (Annual Operating Plan). Ensure compliance to approved head count.  Reduce cost of operational expenses when possible. Responsible for providing a facility that insures the safe storage, handling and control of all inventories. Create a safe work environment that fosters continual improvements in the cost of operations and quality of service to our Customer. Negotiate contracts for facilities, freight, maintenance and other services when required. Empowers and utilizes team to perform operational responsibilities. Maintains focus on team morale and change management. Develops and maintains appropriate client relationships at all levels to include internal departments and suppliers in order to maintain high service level standards with our internal and external customers. Recommends and implements, as directed, new technologies, quality standards, and procedures to impact vision. Invests time and resources in employee development. Works cross functionally with peers to develop consistent practices related to staff development, performance and cost management. Knowledgeable of departmental and industry best practices.  Utilizes quality and performance metrics to ensure regulatory compliance. Acts as team resource for process and systems knowledge. Basic Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED Bachelors degreeYEARS OF EXPERIENCE (Use targeted minimums instead of ranges.  Example:  4+ yrs instead of 2-4 yrs) 5+ years inventory/ distribution   3+ years Managerial dutiesSPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED Knowledge of California OSHA rules and regulations Desired/Preferred Qualifications Handling, storage and packaging of medical products. Systems knowledge: Microsoft applications, AS400 (i.e. JDE, SAP), SAP experience Strong interpersonal skills Lean Sigma Green belt certification APICS or other professional certification Inventory and assessment experience Self-motivated, can work with minimal supervision, in a facility remote from the Minneapolis, MN., headquarters location.
