SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Provides specialized floor, carpet care and special cleaning projects in accordance with Environmental Service standards for quality and overall objectives of the hospital.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Some formal education, training or practical experience desired in order to understand written and/or oral instructions.

2. Possesses interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with hospital staff, primarily nursing, patients and visitors.

3. Able to demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge of special techniques such as stripping and refinishing floors, shampooing carpeting to achieve the desired result, and ability to effectively operate auto scrubber/rotary machine, extractor and other various equipment normally acquired during three to six months of work experience. Must be mechanically inclined for minor repair of equipment used.
