Summary

The Exercise Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of all adaptive exercise programming for a diverse population of participants with multiple sclerosis (MS) at a multi-disciplinary wellness program.  The Exercise Specialist performs duties under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist and with input from the Physical Therapist.

 

Major Duties

·  Leading individual adaptive exercise programs with all Center members

·  Leading small group adaptive exercise classes

·  Designing home-based exercise programs

·  Providing education regarding adaptive exercise

·  Assisting in the use of medical and fitness equipment

·  Performing transfers as needed

 

Key Qualifications

·  Ability to lead, perform, observe, and/or assist in a wide variety of adaptive exercise activities, safely and accurately

·  Skill in making appropriate decisions based on member needs

·  Ability to communicate with individuals from varied backgrounds in an effective and professional manner

·  Familiarity with basic computer functions including word processing, spreadsheets, and online mail systems

·  Skill in working in a pressured environment with flexibility, concentration, and minimal supervision

·  Ability to work cooperatively with others and meet a high quality of work performance

·  Graduation from an accredited college or university with degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education or related field

 

Salary Range

$18.09/hour ($3,136/month) to $32.50/hour ($5,633/month) depending upon experience and qualifications.
