Fire Marshal
Job Description: Inspects, maintains and tests fire equipment, responding to alarms, assisting inspection agencies and conducting fire safety classes. Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Inspects sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, automatic extinguishing systems, emergency lights, exit ways, standpipe, exit stairs, doors, lights, linen chutes, etc., on monthly basis. 2. Tests all fire alarm systems, fire extinguishing systems, and gas alarms on daily, monthly or quarterly basis. 3. Responds to all fire alarms, malfunctions, assorted alarm problems and investigates gas smells, leaks, burning odors, etc., keeps records on all fires and major incidents including causes, losses and operations. 4. Conducts ongoing orientation and fire safety classes and other training sessions. 5. Interprets and applies all applicable fire safety codes/regulations as they relate to Mount Sinai Medical Center. 6. Operates and maintains fire alarm system including associated panels, smoke detectors, sprinklers, flow alarms, manual fire alarm stations and fire fighting equipment including extinguishers, standpipe hose lines, nozzles, masks, etc., when necessary. 7. Supervises fire brigade members and security personnel during fire emergency situations. 8. Maintains or initiates communication with boiler room, engineering desk, Central Alarm Company, and Telecommunications Department.Job Qualifications: High School/GED
