SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Foreign Language Medical Interpreters facilitate health related communication between Health Care Providers (HCPs) and Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients. Medical Interpreters help to ensure that patients receive understandable and respectful care that is in keeping with their cultural health beliefs, practices and primary language.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Native fluency or a comparable skill level in both English and the target language.

2. Knowledge of medical terminology in source and target languages.

3. Training and/or experience in medical interpretation.

4. Excellent customer service/teamwork skills.

5. Scheduling flexibility and willingness to work at multiple locations.
