Job Responsibilities:
Position Description:
The Manager Rehabilitation Nursing Services provides for the efficient operation and overall planning of nursing services throughout the inpatient rehabilitation units of the hospital; provides for the optimal level of nursing care in a cost effective manner; and coordinates and evaluates the nursing staff in their practice.
 
Professional competency and effective communications are demonstrated through autonomous decision-making as well as thorough collaboration with other disciplines and departments of the Rehabilitation Hospital and Medical Center.

Works autonomously
 
Sets priorities and makes independent decisions of a complex nature using scientific knowledge and the nursing process.

Must maintain patient and personnel confidentiality.

Interfaces directly with physicians, nursing personnel at all levels, other clinicians and disciplines, patients and their families/other close members, administrative and ancillary personnel and departments

Has continual contact with adult, adolescent, and older adult rehabilitation patients.
Assists in the planning of nursing budget

Understands complexity of patient acuity across age span of services provided at the Rehabilitation Center and its relation to staffing

Must oversee 24-hour nursing operation in the absence of the Director

Works within boundaries of relevant regulatory agencies. Skills/Requirements
Education/Experience:
Required: Registered Nurse; 5 years clinical experience, 8 years clinical experience (if not BSN)

Preferred: Masters degree in Nursing; Minimum of three years post graduate clinical experience in Rehabilitation Nursing.

Minimum of one year experience at Supervisor Nursing Unit position or above.

Skills/Abilities:


Required: 1 year of successful clinical supervision of nursing care within an interdisciplinary team setting. Good verbal communication skills.


Preferred: Familiar with budgeting; planning and providing educational programs; familiar with Labor Relations and Affirmative Action issues and procedures in the workplace; understanding and ability to apply statistical methods to reports.
