HOSPITALIST FULL TIME - Weekdays and Weekends On-Call Responsibilities (50 HRS/Week). Physician is a full time employee and as such is expected to spend an average of 50 hours per week performing the duties of this position. In order to provide coverage across all nursing shifts, Physician may work 10-12 hour shifts.Clinical Responsibilities:-Medically manage patients admitted to Hospitalist Service or the service of another physician for whom the Hospitalist Service is covering. Schedule and total time commitment is set by Physician's supervisors. -Provide inpatient consultation for Physician's clinical specialty at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, including in the Psychiatry Unit.-Physician will work actively with hospital case managers and other professionals to keep patient lengths of stay at appropriate levels providing inpatient care in a fashion that is both efficient and short but compatible with the high standards of patient care.-Other clinically related administrative responsibilities as required to adhere to high quality clinical standards.-Ensures continuity of care for all inpatients admitted under Physician's service or treated by physician under the Hospitalist Practice's service. Provides patients with appropriate instructions for outpatient follow up with their primary care physician.-Contacts patients' primary care physician upon admission, change in patient condition and discharge regarding the treatment, condition and status of patients treated by the Hospitalist Practice.-Communicates directly, clearly and regularly with other physicians on clinical and Hospitalist practice management issues so as to facilitate good patient care and efficient operations of the practice.-Treats all hospital and practice employees with respect and communicates with all practice employees in a professional manner.-Provides supervision of Nurse Practitioner, including sign off of charts.-Provide telephone and where required on-site clinical call coverage for the Hospitalist Practice on a rotational basis with the other physicians in the practice.-Completes all discharge summaries no later than one week after discharge and signs all charts within 14 days of discharge. Submits all required billing documentation on a daily basis and shall include all information required to bill for the services provided by physician.Teaching - Physician will participate in teaching of interns and residents, including Interdisciplinary Rounds, as assigned by the Vice President of Medical Education, the Chief of the Department of Medicine and/or the Chief Medical Officer. Physician will also teach on an adhoc basis as required on all Teaching Service patients.Research - Physician will participate in medical research and or clinical trials as assigned by the Chief of the Department of Medicine or the Chief Medical Officer.Other Duties - Attendance at MFH Medical Staff and Department of Medicine Departmental Meetings. Participate on committees at MFH as assigned.
