Health Care Manager II

The Department of Corrections, as a partner in the criminal justice system, enhances public safety by administering criminal sanctions and programs in accordance with the law and provides leadership for the future of Corrections in Washington State.

Under the direction of the Health Services Director of Operations, The Health Care Manager II is responsible for the administration of five Health Services Units comprised of major and minor facilities with custody levels ranging from maximum to minimum. Both inpatient and outpatient services are provided. Health Services staff at Monroe includes various disciplines from the fields of medicine, mental health and dentistry.

The incumbent is responsible for managing an innovative and comprehensive health care delivery system by leading a large professional and support staff. The broad scope of duties includes: exhibiting leadership in all aspects of the delivery of care, controlling work performed by the various health care units, oversight of cost effective utilization of department fiscal and human resources, development of professional opportunities, planning for future needs and ensuring that constitutionally mandated health care is delivered to offenders.

The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree in management sciences or a health related field,  prior experience in an adult corrections environment, five years of experience managing inpatient and/or outpatient programs and experience in budgetary control.  Experience as a licensed health care provider; a MHA or, a MBA/MPA with a health services administration concentration is desirable. 

Demonstrated Competencies include: Human resources management principles, ability to work effectively with professional staff from all major clinical fields, working within a union environment governed by a CBA, implemention and maintainance of a Quality Management Program and management of a budget exceeding 25 millon dollars.
