Health Information Specialist

Washington, DC - Full-time
3:00pm-11:30pm, Sunday-Thursday


What you'll be doing: Ensuring that all patient records and loose documents are placed/scanned into the electronic/paper patient folder with the highest level of quality possible Indexing all documents to the appropriate patient folder and ensuring that each document is assigned the appropriate document name Identifying and assigning deficient medial records to the appropriate medical staff Collecting information for and preparing birth certificates and death certificates Processing release of information to patients, attorneys and third-party payers Processing transcribed documents

Requirements: Minimum of one year experience in a medical record department High school graduate or equivalent (GED) Associate’s degree in Medical Record Technology or equivalent education and experience in a medical record department is an asset Registered Health Information Technician preferred Knowledge of Windows 95 and Microsoft Word
