Job Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: Medical/Health Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Mission and Contribution of this position: Description General Summary The Histology Technician plays an essential role in the surgical patient's diagnosis by preparing routine and STAT microscopic slides from all tissue removed during surgery procedures that will be interpretated by the Pathologists in the diagnosis of disease.Minimum Job Qualifications Minimum Education: High School/GED Preferred Education: Four Year Degree Minimum years in field previous to employment: Three years Preferred number of years in field: Five years Minimum Job Qualifications: Experience and training necessary for all of the following equipment: Cryostats, Microtomes, Processors (Tissue) Automated Stainers, Balances, pH meters, Microscopes, Computers. Licensure, Certification and/or Registration: Registry with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Registry as HT(ASCP) is highly desirable.
