Job SummaryThis position is accountable for providing timely and accurate customer service through routine telephone inquiries and written correspondence.  Answers customer questions, resolves issues and handles routine requests which may involve benefit policy interpretation, routine research and simple claim adjustments.  Communicates information regarding  claim status, enrollment/membership issues and benefit policy procedures. Refers inquiries to other team members to determine proper course of action and resolution when unable to resolve.  Operates a personal computer and appropriate software packages or its equivalent. Job QualificationsEducation/Experience: Requires a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Prefers some college education. Requires a minimum of two years of Customer Service experience.  Prefers one year experience in a call center environment.  Prefers experience in the health insurance industry. Knowledge: Prefers knowledge of medical terminology. Prefers knowledge of health insurance industry. Prefers knowledge of contract benefits. Skills and Abilities: Requires initiative, follow up skills, and the ability to pay attention to detail. Requires excellent verbal communication skills. Requires the ability to understand and use language correctly. Requires the ability to apply reason in order to determine the appropriate mathematical operation for solving a problem. Requires the ability to classify information. Requires the ability to research and investigate. Requires the ability to effectively communicate in writing.
