INFUSION THERAPY SPECIALIST/ RN

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing - CPR Certification - Florida License or Eligibility Required - Experience is required GENERAL SUMMARY: The Infusion Therapy Specialist/RN (ITS) is responsible to the Director, Infection Control and Vascular Access Team Lead Therapist and works within the scope of service of the Infection Control Team. He/she works in a self-directed work team committed to a common purpose and goals. The ITS's role involves daily collaborative care efforts with both members of the health care team and patients and their caregivers. The ITS's professional responsibility is to provide or facilitate the safe and effective practice of infusion therapy, thereby reducing the risk of infection and other complications related to infusion therapy, and improving clinical outcomes, as well as patient and staff satisfaction related to infusion therapy. The ITS practices within infusion therapy standards, in a fiscally responsible environment. The ITS's knowledge is a resource for physicians, health care staff both in and out of the hospital, and patients and their families. The Infusion Therapy Specialists have the responsibility to ensure that their unique qualifications and expertise are recognized as a contribution to excellence in patient centered care and maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment. He/she is a resource in all aspects of infusion therapy across the lifespan and across healthcare settings. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Preferred: Required: Skills: Strong vascular access and management/troubleshooting skills. Excellent consultation, organization, teaching, and interpersonal communication skills. EDUCATION: Preferred: Required: Graduation from an accredited nursing school with appropriate experience in infusion therapy. Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) required within 12 months of employment. EXPERIENCE: Preferred: Required: 4 - 5 years experience providing infusion therapy in an acute hospital or (If STEP or PTD and normally scheduled to work less than 40 hours per pay period, must have minimum of one year full time experience in acute care hospital.)
