IT Asset Specialist (Purchasing Specialist)

Primary Dutues and Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate acquisition, selection, deployment, and end-of-lease return of Iowa Health System assets ensuring compliance with all required licensing restrictions Maintain, update, and provide requested reports for the asset management system. Monitor new developments in technology to determine their applicability to systems and how we can use them to improve productivity. Develop procedures to document requirements for addition, deletion, or changes to assets. Assists in evaluating user departmental devices/system requests to determine appropriate hardware and software specifications. Participates in establishing and preparing departmental goals, standards, procedures, and instructions which contribute to the effectiveness of the department in accordance with organizational goals.

Qualifications:Requires knowledge of health care industry systems. Previous experience in Information Technology and project management. Extensive knowledge of asset management, lease terms and conditions, hardware specifications, software licensing requirements, and asset management software applications. Requires highly developed communication skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout the Iowa Health System, its subsidiaries and affiliates. Ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities, which arise, in a complex multiprocessing environment is crucial.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Equivalent on-the-job training will be accepted only if previous experience applies to specific supported systems and products.
