IT Sr. Systems Engineer

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is the only specialty children’s hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the state’s largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 299 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled in October 2006 that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years.  In short, PCH is a growing, thriving organization where opportunities for personal development and promotion of our employees will continue in years to come. PRIMARY PURPOSE:This position will primarily be responsible for the design, planning and implementation of server based architectures. This position will also have second level responsibilities for resolving server OS and hardware failure incidents across multiple technology platforms including, but not limited to VMware ESX 3.x, Windows Server 2000/2003, Microsoft Clusters (2003 Server), Citrix Presentation Server 4.x, Active Directory 2003, Exchange Server 2007, Dell Blade Servers and EMC SAN devices. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to bend, reach, lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.  Work activities require ability to change priorities regularly to accomplish tasks with frequent interruptions.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. Degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent work experience.2. Have 7 years experience with Windows 2000/2003 server operating systems in an enterprise environment.3. Have 5 years experience with Microsoft Clustering, DFS, File and Printer sharing, Systems Management/Monitoring, Disaster Recovery, and SAN technologies.4. Recent experience with scripting tools to automate daily tasks. (VB, Perl, PowerShell)5. Willingness to work outside normal business hours.6. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.7.   Must be able to participate in 24X7 on call rotation.8. MCSE 2000/2003. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:1. Degree in a technical or business discipline.2. Have experience with Microsoft Operations Manager 2005/2007.3. Have experience in design and implementation of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005. This includes performance monitoring, tuning and development of stored procedures as well as develops maintenance plans for all SQL databases.4. Work experience with Veritas Netbackup 6.x, Microsoft Clusters (2003 Server), Citrix Presentation Server 4.x, VMware ESX 3.x, Altris.Patch Management, and Microsoft SharePoint 2007.
