Independent Living Program Associate

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES 

Duties may include but not be limited to:
Regular telephone contact providing Information & Referral services. Data entry in computer database and retrieval of information for monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Responsible for entering Information & Referral records in database. Responsible for assigned IL case service provision and required documentation. Assist in managing disability services resources in agency library. Responsible for regular community education / outreach presentations. Provide technical assistance on the ADA to community groups as needed. Designing and staffing of information tables at health fairs and conferences. Participation in center activities / services as needed. Coordinate transportation for IL services / membership activities. Under the direction of the Executive Director, assist in developing, organizing independent living skills programs for DIAL consumers. Provide guidance / direction to Peer Counseling Groups including documentation of group service activity. Contribute articles for agency newsletter and facilitate consumer participation where appropriate and solicitation of newsletter advertisers. Other assignments / duties at the direction of the Executive Director. Nights and weekend projects on occasion.

 

Qualifications: 
Experience in working with persons with disabilities. College degree preferred. Knowledge of Human Services in Passaic & Essex Counties a plus. Knowledge and support of the Independent Living Philosophy. Strong telephone skills Computer Skills. Ability to work independently. Research skills required. Good listening, communications and organizational skills. Positive, enthusiastic attitude a must, a team player.
