We provide talented students with the opportunity to gain challenging, real-world experience in health care.We are currently seeking Health and Fitness Specialist interns to help support our client site locations in Phoenix and Tempe, AZ.Work Schedule: Part Time or Full time - TemporaryJOB SUMMARYThe responsibilities of the Intern - Health and Fitness Specialists are to assist the Site Manager and Health Fitness Specialists in the daily operations of the fitness center including: cover staffed fitness center hours, perform facility orientations, fitness evaluations and exercise prescriptions for fitness center members, and to perform special duties specified by the Site Manager including special event assistance.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Group Exercise Class instruction2. Facility orientation-Assist in the day-to-day operations of the fitness center and its programs - Perform administrative tasks associated with facility operations-Create monthly fitness bulletin boards3. Fitness evaluations and exercise prescriptions-Design personalized training programs individualized to accommodate members' needs-Monitor members' exercise program, progress and satisfaction4. Maintenance of facility-Towels-Locker rooms-Equipment5. Attend to fitness center members' immediate needs-Provide general health information to members-Spotting/instruction of exercises-Taking heart rates/blood pressures as requested-Adjustment of environment (radio, temperature, fans)-Provide motivation to members-Design, implement and evaluate membership incentive programs6. Maintain fitness center records-Daily log-Incident reports-Membership files-Customer comments/cards7. Promote fitness center facility and special programs8. Research and report health-related information as requested by Site Manager and/or members.9. Design and post various marketing materials advertising current and upcoming events/policies/ announcements in the fitness center and cafeteria bulletin board.10. Develop written materials - handouts, letters of correspondence, flyers, memos, and other necessary communications.11. Maintain confidentiality of all personal health data obtained from participants.Qualifications:*Working towards a degree in health and fitness or related field required at junior status or higher*Exercise testing and prescription knowledge*Weight training knowledge*CPR certification required*Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of and assist individuals with stretching, and resistance and/or aerobic exercises.We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
