JOB SUMMARYHunterdon Healthcare System has an immediate opening for an Internal Auditor within the Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit Department.

The Internal Auditor will plan and execute internal financial, compliance, and operational audits of Hunterdon Healthcare System business units and departments to determine effectiveness, efficiency, and adherence with government regulations, industry standards, and the organizations's policies and procedures. This position, reporting to the Director of Corporate Compliance and Internal Audit, will be based in Flemington, NJ and may require travel throughout an approximate 40 mile radius to facilities associated with Hunterdon Healthcare System.

RESPONSIBILITIES*Assists the Director with the development, implementation, and monitoring of an annual organizational risk assessment and audit work plan.*Develops and implements detailed audit programs to monitor and assess operations, policies, and procedures of HHS affiliates and Hunterdon's major functional areas, which include, but are not limited to: patient services, finance, reimbursement, materials management, information services, marketing, and facilities management.*Utilizes generally accepted auditing procedures and appropriate statistical methods (e.g., determination of appropriate sample size, random selection, establishment of materiality levels) in conducting internal audits and management reviews.*Maintains comprehensive files on the audit work conducted, findings noted, and responses by management.*Performs follow-up of action items identified during audits and assesses the need to conduct additional audits of a particular area.*Conducts monitoring of contracts with external parties to report on compliance with organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.*Recommend changes in processes and controls to address weaknesses identified during assessment activities.*Maintains a professional awareness of changes in auditing standards, applicable federal and state regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies and procedures - with ability to associate necessary internal controls.*Able to conduct minimal travel that may be required.*Assists Director in the performance of special projects.

EDUCATIONAL & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED*Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, computer science, or healthcare required. MBA, MHA, CPA, CFE, or CIA preferred.*Minimum of five (5) years of audit-related work experience, with minimum of three (3) years of experience as an internal auditor or equivalent in conducting reviews related to healthcare accounting for a hospital or related healthcare industry.

SKILLS REQUIRED*Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills*Ability to work in a team environment.*Strong interpersonal communication skills, with ability to effectively and professionally interact with staff at all levels of the organization.*Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.*Detail oriented with strong organizational skills for prioritizing multiple projects and achieving pre-established milestones.*Demonstrated intermediate experience using Microsoft Exces, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.*Ability to learn new systems applications quickly.*Capable of performing assigned job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
