Job Coach/Employment Specialist

The Arc of Greater Plymouth is a non-profit Human Services agency located in Plymouth, MA. Our mission is to provide support and dignity to individuals with developmental disabilities.  The Arc of Greater Plymouth has an immediate opportunity for a Job Coach (P/T & F/T), we are seeking a high energy, detail oriented individual who possesses strong interpersonal skills. This person will work as part of a team but should be able to work well independently. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Employment Services.


Responsibilities:

The individual will develop strong relationships with the individuals served, their families, staff, employers and funding source. This employee will be responsible to maintain confidentiality and all other laws pertaining to the care and protection of individuals with developmental disabilities.

 

  Duties include but are not limited to: 

• Provide client transportation, to and from place of employment
• Provide on the job training and supervision specific to job requirements
• Act as a role model for individuals including work habits, attitudes, behaviors and dress code
• Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at the job site
• Ensure work standards are met and quality of work is maintained throughout the job placement
• Report individual’s progress on an ongoing basis in the form of record keeping, progress notes, participate in team meetings as necessary, and prepare other reports as needed

• Ensure and safeguard the individual’s human rights, dignity, and liberties.
• Maintain all appropriate certifications (i.e. First Aid, CPR, Human Rights, etc)
• Maintain individual records with attention to the policies and procedures of the ARC of Greater Plymouth and the Department of Mental Retardation
• Advocate for opportunities to meet the goals of the individuals, DMR and the ARC of Greater Plymouth
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred or related human service experience
• Must pass CORI, RMV, DSS and DPPC safety checks
• Ability to transport and support, one or several consumers at their work place

• Demonstrated organization, judgment and initiative
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Commitment to developing and enhancing social roles for individuals with developmental disabilities
