Laboratory Administrative Director

Alameda County Medical Center (ACMC) provides comprehensive, high-quality medical treatment, prevention and maintenance through an integrated system of hospitals (Highland, Fairmont and John George Psych Pavilion), clinics and health services, which serve the needs of the community.

ACMC is seeking an energetic and customer-oriented Laboratory Administrative Director to oversee operations of a clinical laboratory and pathology service serving an acute care hospital (Highland General Hospital; also designated as a Level II Trauma Center) and associated outpatient clinics, a skilled nursing facility (Fairmont Hospital) a psychiatric inpatient facility, including a Psychiatric Emergency Service (John George Psychiatric Pavilion). Clinical Laboratory services provided include Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, urinalysis, coagulation, hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics. Our Clinical Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the Blood Bank/Transfusion Service by the AABB. The successful candidate must have a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or bioanalyst license and 5+ years of full-time Clinical Laboratory supervisory experience, excellent interpersonal skills, information system (laboratory and clinical) expertise and financial acumen. You will be expected to maintain compliance with all clinical laboratory regulatory requirements, prepare and successfully lead the Clinical Laboratory through biennial laboratory accreditation surveys, effectively implement changes as directed by the Laboratory Director or other pathologists, liaison effectively with non-Clinical Laboratory customers, and assure adequate laboratory and pathology infrastructure (technology, instrumentation, information systems, etc.) to support the patient care needs at all ACMC sites.
