Laboratory Informaticist (Laboratory Information Systems)

Our client, a community hospital located in southeast Connecticut, is currently seeking a Laboratory Informaticist.

Reporting to the Clinical IS Manager, with strong dotted line responsibilities to the Laboratory Department Manager, the Laboratory Informaticist responsible for providing proficient, professional, and skilled support for the hospital’s Meditech Client Server environment and other applications and technology within the laboratory department.  The hospital has a progressive Management Information Systems strategy that is moving toward the goal of a totally integrated electronic medical record.

The Laboratory Informaticist will work in a team environment with other departmental informaticists to implement and support current and new applications and upgrades.  The Laboratory Informaticist may also provide training to other employees on the various applications and will frequently collaborate with various hospital departments and physician practices to maximize the efficiency and use of electronic information systems.  The Laboratory Informaticist will attend both laboratory departmental operational meetings and MIS department meetings.

Located in a picturesque, rural part of Connecticut, this town is within 1-3 hours of major metropolitan areas including Boston, New York City, Providence, and Hartford.  This location offers great access to sporting events, parks, beaches, and cultural events.  The school system is highly regarded.



REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Computer Science, Health Care, Nursing, Information Systems, or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience/training.

National certification as an MT (ASCP) or equivalent is desired. Experience: A minimum of four years of experience in the health care or information technology industry, Meditech background desirable but not required.

A minimum of two years of laboratory experience is desired.
