MANAGER TUHS DEVELOPMENT
Position Description
The Manager TUHS Development is directly responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing all aspects of TUHSs annual fundraising programs, and works closely with the Director of Development in implementing all other components of the Health Systems fundraising initiatives. Such annual programs encompass employee campaigns, solicitations of vendors and consultants, community drives, Medical Staff and Trustee appeals, and patient solicitation programs, among other initiatives. The Manager TUHS Development is also responsible for selected approaches to foundations and corporations, and is a key actor in the cultivation and solicitation of major individual gifts. The Manager TUHS Development will be expected to develop a steadily increasing revenue stream from these various constituencies in order to provide the Health System with a reliable source of income to support high priority operations. Reporting directly to the TUHS Director of Development, the Manager TUHS Development works closely with other members of the staff of Communications and External Affairs to ensure a consistent approach to external constituencies. The Manager TUHS Development also works to develop and implement a range of programs and strategies that will help foster a culture of giving within the Health System. The Manager TUHS Development play a key role with the Director of Development to establish a strategic direction for fundraising that includes identifying priorities, policies, strategies, and tactics to support high priority capital and programmatic projects, as well as endowment growth. Superior communication skills to express, both orally and in writing, the mission and fundraising goals of TUHS with clarity, passion and persuasion. Ability to communicate with both internal and external constituencies and to represent TUHS effectively. Skilled in using teams and committees in the fundraising process. Must have intellectual depth, moral integrity, personal vision, creativity, leadership skills, fortitude, sincerity and diplomacy. Must be a self starter with superior organizational skills, a clear set of priorities, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to take advantage of emerging opportunities. A high energy level, a confident "can do" attitude, and the ability to function at peak in a high expectation environment are essential. Understanding of the mission of an urban health system and appreciation for its unique relationships, as well as the role of both community and physicians in the fundraising process.Education and ExperienceBachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.Minimum of Five (5) years experience and proven success in a large public fundraising and development operation, preferably healthcare system, university or large nonprofit as a seasoned and effective development professional. Experience in community annual giving programs and employee campaigns is essential, together with experience in and understanding of institutional public relations. Demonstrated ability to provide management oversight, leadership, strategic direction and accountability to annual giving programs, to lead, motivate and mentor staff and colleagues; to structure efficient systems; and to build morale and develop trust and strong collaborative working relationships. Hands-on knowledge of team building is desirable, as is experience in working with physicians and volunteers Working knowledge of prospect management software and of fundraising database systems. Excellent organizational and analytical skills, and strong intuitive skills are also critical requirements.
