Monthly Salary Range: $3,749 - $4,557

THE POSITION
The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is recruiting qualified individuals to fill two vacant Medical Records Coder positions. These positions will be assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center located in Martinez, California.

Medical Records Coders perform a variety of complex duties associated with the maintenance of hospital patient medical records. This includes assigning the appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes required for accurate billing, assembling patient health information, tabulating and analyzing data to improve patient care, and other related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certification Required: Possession of one of the following valid certifications (must be current): Certified Coding Specialist (all types), Registered Health Information Administrator, Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Tumor Registrar, or Certified Professional Coder (all types).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Prior to employment a background investigation will be conducted. Fingerprints will be taken.

SELECTION PROCESS

2. Examination: Examination will consist of an evaluation of each candidate’s relevant experience, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. Candidates will receive a rating of 70% for meeting the minimum qualifications. Additional points will be awarded to those candidates who possess related education, training and/or experience beyond the minimum qualifications. The names of successful candidates will be placed on an employment list for a period of six (6) months.
