MRI Supervisor
Education/Experience: Must be ARRT (American Registry Radiologic Technologist) eligible, and be licensed in the State of Oregon or license eligible. Advanced MR certification required within one year of employment. Prefer two or more years experience in the field of MR imaging. Demonstrated ability to produce high quality MR images and provide adequate patient care with little supervision. Previous supervisory experience required.
Licensure/Certification: ARRT, OBRT, CPR (Advanced certifications within 12 months)
Special Skills Required: Proficient computer skills: This includes Microsoft Word and Outlook, keyboarding at least 45wpm, and preferably Radiology Information System experience. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to work responsibly and maintain confidentiality, be dependable, and perform multiple tasks in a high volume, fast paced medical environment, with caring and compassion. Must support the mission, philosophy and values of Oregon Imaging Centers.

Technical Skills Category: Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for designated time and area. Maintains steady workflow ensuring a complete, accurate and timely work product. Prepares films/digital images for interpretation by a radiologist including annotation, labeling, validating quality and coding of film jackets in a timely manner.
Demonstrates knowledge of principles of MRI physics and computer science related to MRI scanning. Can successfully manipulate TR, TE, FOV, Matrix, and Number slices. Adheres to pre-set OIC exam protocols and Radiologist hand written customized guidelines.
Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Performs and/or assists with procedures according to approved department procedure manual. Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while maintaining exam quality. Reviews patient questionnaire and request for physician notes and/or special instructions. Consults with Radiologist and patient as required assuring appropriateness.
Demonstrates correct and adequate cross-sectional anatomic positioning skills. Selects appropriate MRI scanning technique/equipment and determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions. Applies immobilization devices as required for patient safety.
Demonstrates complete working knowledge of all MRI exam coils and positioning sponges. Recognizes opportunities to enhance image quality producing high quality MRI exams.
Effectively communicates with SHMC Imaging Department, perspective inpatient Ward Clerks and Nurses. Acquires MRI exam order confirmation, pertinent patient safety and transportation information. Verifies patient identification by verbal communication, ID band, DOB, etc. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code and administers aid as needed.
Assists OIC scheduling/reception departments in proper exam scheduling and patient handling in an effort to reduce reschedules or callbacks. Seeks Radiologist guidance as required.
