MST Coordinator

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Community-Based Services and CQI, the individual in this position oversees and administers the delivery of MST (multisystemic therapy) Services to youth and their families directly, or through staff therapists.  Ensures appropriate supervision, accurate documentation and related reporting occurs in a timely manner and in alignment with MHY goals and strategies.  Must be able to work some flexible hours, including evenings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Conducts individual and group supervisions with MST therapists on a weekly basis to ensure the fidelity of the MST model, including its principles and processes. Provides individual supervision to MST therapists as necessary in support of competency development and appropriate delivery of MST treatment.  Ensures accurate documentation of clinical services to permit appropriate peer and supervisory review, and to meet the reporting needs of funding and referral sources.  Responds to staff therapist performance problems promptly and effectively, and defines related goals and timelines within performance plans to support outcomes.  Addresses administrative systemic and operational obstacles, either individually or with the Director as needed. Ensures that administrative or clinical support is provided to therapists as needed. Ensures that therapists are available to clients as needed to promote engagement, and that all therapist are achieving engagement with clients as anticipated.  Provides organizational and MST training to staff therapists on both a group and individual basis as required and necessary. Ensures that assessments are comprehensive, multisystemic, and provide adequate information to identify the causes and correlates of referral behavior in order to direct effective treatment within the environmental context.  Completes all documentation in an accurate and timely manner in support of organizational and treatment objectives, including that which is necessary for State, County or managed care audits.  Collaborates with staff, other managers and partnering agencies in support of outcomes and objectives set forth by MHY.  Attends group and team meetings as required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for overseeing staff MST therapists.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field of study, and demonstrated success in the clinical treatment of youth with serious antisocial behavior.  Prior experience in family and youth therapies using cognitive and behavioral approaches strongly preferred, as is prior experience in social skills assessment and intervention and child development approaches.  Must be 21 years of age with current FBI and Act 33/34 Clearances.  Prior supervisory experience required.  Current PA state driver’s license with evidence of an insurable driving record required.  Must possess demonstrated PC skills including common MS Office applications.  Additional training or licensing as required by regulations, or as deemed necessary by the Executive Director or Director. 

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts of basic math principles in common business applications including budget management.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, and percentages.

 Communication Skills

Ability to adjust the presentation of information to diverse audiences.  Ability to read and comprehend simple to moderately complex clinical research, instructions, general business correspondence, and memos.  Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, including a professional and responsive client service approach. Welcomes input regarding work-related activities.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, supervisors and other employees.  Recognizes and respects appropriate parameters of confidential information.

Strategic Planning

Ability to apply common sense understanding to effectively carry out written or oral instructions in an expedient manner.  Capable of recognizing critical events or needs and adjusting priorities and deadlines accordingly.  Ability to deal with and analyze problems involving several concrete variables in and aside from standardized situations.  Promotes the attitudes, conditions and environments that yield increased quality and content of individual and team performance.
