WORK DAYS: Monday - FridaySalem Hospital’s regional medical center, established in 1896, is located in the heart of downtown Salem, Oregon and is the only medical center of its size in a 50 mile radius. Our Hospital is one of the largest of Oregon's 57 acute care hospitals, and we are the city's largest private employer, with approximately 3,500 full and part-time employees. We are a not-for-profit hospital, licensed for 454 acute care beds, with an operating budget of $387 million, and are guided by a 15-member volunteer Board of Trustees. West Valley Hospital, located in Dallas, Oregon, is a controlled subsidiary of Salem Health, which is our parent corporation. West Valley Hospital is designated as a critical access health center with 44 licensed beds.Our large, expanding campus allows Salem Hospital to offer a wide range of the latest medical technologies and services in and around Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The Corporation has identified strategic capital needs totaling approximately $285 million during the next five years, which it expects to fund from a combination of internal funds, fund-raising proceeds and proceeds of the Bonds. These monies will be used for the construction of a new patient care tower, which is currently in progress, and is expected to be completed by January 2009. Salem Hospital is seeking a dynamic, experienced, team-oriented and quality focused leader to assume the role of Manager Insurance & Managed Care Contracting. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance, and is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for contracting with managed care payers, providers, and healthcare networks as such activities align with Salem Health’s strategic plan.General responsibilities include: Establishing and maintaining relationships with key organizations in Salem Health’s network of providers and payers. Negotiating contracts and establishing payment rates and terms for services provided by Salem Health providers. Maintaining standard contract language and provisions for all managed care contracts. Collaborating with general counsel with regard to all contracting strategies and decisions. Collaborating with decision support resources to monitor contract performance, developing payment terms, and modeling impacts of proposed terms. Effectively interacting with executive management on strategic interests with payers and provider networks to ensure alignment in contract strategy and health system goals. Engaging as a member of the leadership team to assure the organization’s success in developing and implementing its strategic plan. Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Comprehensive interpersonal skills including both verbal and written communication, and ability to develop communication strategies that engage appropriate stakeholders. Creative and strategic thinking abilities, along with a broad-based knowledge of global trends in healthcare and its various third payment mechanisms. Team oriented individual demonstrating collaboration and effective listening skills. Effective skills with building and maintaining relationships with physicians, executives, and managers of outside entities. Goal oriented work ethic with effective prioritization skills. Excellent computer skills required for spreadsheet analysis, word processing, and presentation preparation. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. Five (5) years progressive, related experience in one or more of the following: negotiations, relationship management, and/or healthcare.
