Come grow with us in Portland, Oregon. Media Relations Manager The individual in this position manages Kaiser Permanente's efforts to receive positive media coverage in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. In this position, you will increase Kaiser Permanente’s reputation by promoting the region's positive activities, accomplishments, and mission. Responsibilities include managing crisis media events and negative media attention during adverse circumstances, and providing strategic and tactical crisis-management counsel and advice that enables senior leaders to take appropriate action to protect Kaiser Permanente’s brand image and reputation. Additional duties involve developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the media; developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the Kaiser Permanente senior leadership team, physicians, labor leaders and staff; and managing media-related projects and activities. A bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, business, or liberal arts is required. Seven years of experience as a news reporter or journalist is also required, as is three years of corporate communications experience. Strong consulting, organizational, planning, and verbal and written communication skills are all essential. Thorough knowledge of how to conduct an interview with a source is imperative. A demonstrated excellence in working effectively with senior leaders and managers in large organizations, and in influencing their approach to communications is required. Proven organization, time-management, and multitasking skills are also necessary. Thorough working knowledge of print, online, and electronic media; Office 98/2000; and media and public relations communication strategies is preferred.
