Medical Asst/Patient Registrar Scheduler

Requirements: High School diploma and graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or equivalent training. Successful completion of the National Certification preferred. Current CPR certification. 1. Maintain patient's safe passage in and out of the clinic, and through clinic for ancillary services.2. Greet, assess and interview patients. Obtain past medical and surgical history, family history, social history, vital signs. Review present medications, allergy history, chief complaint, and brief interrogation of complaint. Act as a liaison between doctor and patient. Explain medication, side effects, treatments, diets, diseases and disease processes. Screen for health maintenance criteria. Update medication list and current problem list.3. Assess need for medical waiver and obtain signature if applicable.4. Prepare and assist patients for examination, treatment or procedure by medical staff. 5. Anticipate need for assessment and monitoring, and follow through in providing the assessment and monitoring of patient during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness, or procedure.6. Maintain and update level of skill for pertinent medical assistant duties.7. Upkeep and maintain patient care areas. Stocking and ordering of supplies as needed.8. Responsibly charge and code all supplies, medications and procedures.9. Keep current CPR certification and licensure. Attend required staff training, emergency training, and OSHA training sessions, as well as staff meetings.10. Accurate and timely documentation of nursing interventions. Follow WFMG clinic policies.11. Respond to patient's concerns in person or by telephone while simultaneously assessing and documenting the problem.12. Participates in educational conferences. Updates and maintains professional knowledge and skill related to areas of practice.13. Provides a caring environment and able to deal empathetically with patient's needs and questions. Must be an excellent verbal communicator and project a professional image.14. Maintains patient confidentiality.15. Able to float to other areas.16. Participate in training and skills development of new personnel.17. Contributes to the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare Systems Organizational Direction on an annual basis as defined by Performance Excellence Program. 18. Meets Departmental Goals on an annual basis as defined by the Performance Excellence Program. 19. Meets the defined number of essential job duties as defined by the Performance Excellence Program. 20. Meets the expected behaviors of values for living out our mission as defined by the Performance Excellence Program.21. Participates in the developmental goals for ocntinuous learning and improvement defined annually by the Performance Excellence Program.22. Performs other duties as assigned. Description: Under the direction of their departmental supervisor, this individual assists medical staff in patient care, performs nursing procedures, and maintains exam and treatment rooms and supplies. Will also perform medical receptionist duties.
