Medical Informatics Analyst

About the Opportunity Are you looking for an opportunity to acquire new professional skills while leveraging your existing knowledge? We need a talented individual to fill the role of Medical Informatics Analyst for Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc. In this position, you will be the one who works with our medical management team to identify medical cost drivers and opportunities for interventions; build and maintain databases; verify, analyze, and improve data; create key reports to be used for operational decisions; and, design/redesign applications utilized by the medical management team.

Qualifications

Skillfully synthesizes large quantities of complex information. Distills it to the most critical issues and draws accurate conclusions.

Understands client needs, identifies root causes of problems, and develops and implements creative and pragmatic solutions.

Experience with data processing including data analysis and process analysis.

Ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple priorities.

Experience maintaining database records, including entering, updating, correcting, and purging records.

Ability to set and monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, access, and security.

Database performance tuning skills.

Ability to create accurate, presentable reports using SQL, MS Access, etc.

Experience gathering user requirements, loading data, and implementing and testing data marts.

Experience with MS SQL Server database configuration, administration, design, and maintenance.

BS in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or Business and 2 to 3 years experience in data collection, analysis, and database programming in a health care setting

Skilled at logical and physical database design and implementation.

Basic SQL programming skills, with ability to write queries involving selects, joins, and views.
