Medical Information Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Logical Images, Inc. (www.logicalimages.com) develops point-of-care medical content. VisualDx (www.visualdx.com) is our visual clinical decision support tool, and VisualDxHealth (www.visualdxhealth.com) is our patient-oriented health information website. In both tools, patient data are searchable by key findings and map to diagnostic relationships with text and images. We have an immediate need for a Medical Information Specialist. This self-motivated, organized and detailed professional will be responsible for all aspects of the editorial workflow, including searching and abstracting from the medical literature, reference verification, text database updating, writing, editing and quality assurance. 

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

•   Show sound knowledge of medical/scientific terminology, UMLS and SNOMED, AMA editorial style, searching bibliographic databases, reference sources, online resources/databases, copyright issues and publishing processes

•   Possess a firm grasp of evidence-based medicine and how to integrate appropriate references and citations into an electronic medical content system

•   Have excellent communication and disciplined work skills

• Be an accomplished writer with a demonstrated flair for synthesizing information from medical/scientific literature into a format appropriate to audiences of varying levels

 

Main responsibilities:

 

•Researching the medical literature, abstracting and parsing best evidence and developing referenced electronic knowledge databases

•  Supervising editorial flow, contacting and working with authors, incorporating author changes, and verifying references

•  Interoperability and integration projects between the electronic health record and the company decision support products

•  Monitoring performance of outside authors, editors and image contributors

•  Working with on-site, full-time editorial staff and off-site team of part-time physician expert contributors

•  Assuring accuracy, relevance, and utility of all data in the corporate knowledge repository

•  Tracking important late-breaking clinical advances and ensuring their inclusion in company information products

•  Participating in applicable clinical research, submitting findings for publication, and presenting findings at national meeting

•  Attending staff meetings

 

Qualifications:

Compensation:

 

The rewards are competitive compensation and an employee stock option plan. Relocation expenses to Rochester, NY, will be considered.
