Description
The Medical Information Systems Specialist analyzes, engineers and leads provisioning of business critical medical information systems and data resources at EMD Serono to assure initiate business process improvements, enhance customer retention, optimize employee productivity and executive decision making, and maintain compliance and security leading to sustainable bottom line results for the Company. Partners with Executives to identify and implement strategies and tactics to solve business problems by leveraging information platforms including database, web, network, learning, and reporting and methodologies including business analysis and project management. Responsibilities: Database and Technology Management Leads initiatives to improve medical information database reliability, taxonomy, usability and provisioning for EMD Serono through improved global management. Ensures uptime, security, local time zone support in partnership with Merck KGaA and affiliates. Reporting and Intelligence Establishes medical information reporting and intelligence platforms for optimized executive decision making and customer market analysis at territory level through CRM analytics, SQL querying, trends analysis. Provides reports and updates on projects and information services to management to assure ROI, QA and alignment with KPIs in various professional formats including executive summaries, metrics, status reports, e-news. Systems and Business Analysis Utilizes business and systems analysis methods including focus groups, use cases, requirements gathering interviews, and web surveys to identify opportunities for business process improvements and user needs. Develops and maintains project and risk management documentation including time-lines, inventories, charters, requirements specifications. Conduct benchmarking with industry and vendors through user communities and forums to define best practices, competitive intelligence and troubleshooting solutions. Web Collaboration and Learning Implements and manages collaborative systems including intranet, portals, document and content management systems and other network architectures to reduce emails, paper, silos, improve product information availability and accuracy for customers on sites, and tap into embedded knowledge in business units. Builds the leadership of EMD Serono Medical Information Systems in industry through conference presentations, workshops, user communities, university programs and other learning opportunities. Creates and maintains guidelines, SOPs, standards, procedures, e-learning and manuals for medical systems training and standardization.
EDUCATION/LANGUAGES Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, information systems, business or related area. Training in bioscience management including understanding of R&D, Commercial and Technology business strategy preferred. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Fluent with current technologies including web, database, media, e-learning, reporting by major vendors. Hands on skills with applications & vendors such as Oracle, Citrix, Adobe, Cognos, Siebel Analytics, IBM Lotus Workplace, Webtrends, Zoomerang, Webex, Basecamp, Quickbase. 5 years of experience in biotechnology systems and communication and understanding of legal and regulatory requirements for medical information such as 21 CFR Part 11, GCP, validation, security. Understanding of SDLC, SOA, SAAS, open source community. PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Innovative approach to problem solving. Technical communications skills. Cultural awareness and business travel experience. Self motivated and reliable. Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize. Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
