Job Description:

Develops the library's strategic plan, which is responsive and conforms to Caritas Holy Family Hospital's mission, goals, and objectives, and establishes policies and procedures for the proper functioning of the library.

 

Develops and maintains library facilities, including space design and utilization, furnishing, equipment, and security.

 

Provides reference services including database searching in answering inquiries and in locating information, using print and electronic resources.

 

Is responsible for collection development, acquisitions and cataloging of all library materials and maintenance of online catalog.

 

Prepares annual operational and capital library budgets and monitors monthly expenditures.

 

Delegates and monitors the work of various library volunteers.

 

Provides the interlibrary loan and document delivery services by locating and obtaining materials not available in-house, utilizing various print and electronic resources.

 

Serves on Joint CME committees.

 

Responsible for all electronic operations functions in the library and MyCaritas Medical Library Holy Family Hospital sites.

 

 

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school. Minimum of two years' experience in a medical library setting with electronic information delivery technology. Effective computer skills. Competency in online resources searching skills in OVID, NLM, Cochrane and other databases; in the use of automated library systems for interlibrary loan; in serials management; in ordering and processing new library materials and in maintenance of an online catalog.
