Medical Office Manager
Horizon House is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1952. We provide support to adults with mental illness, mental retardation, drug and alcohol problems, or homelessness in southeastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware.
We are seeking a Medical Office Manager to work in our clinical Mental Health/D&A outpatient setting.
Medical Office Manager
This position will ensure quality customer service from operations staff and is responsible for ensuring effective administrative operations of the department. By doing so, this position will be responsible for overseeing medical scheduling, insurance eligibility, front desk operations staff, and developing and implementing office policies and procedures including storing and retrieving patient information.
Also the position is responsible for:supporting the Outpatient Director with day-to-day operations to ensure systems are maintained. be the liaison between the department’s clinical operations and the Information Services & Technology (IST) department, as well as third party Insurance/Managed Care companies.will develop and monitor systems to ensure they meet or exceed regulatory and funding source requirements, while developing and maintaining division-specific policy and procedures as needed to enhance support to programs.
An Associates Degree or equivalent in Medical Office Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related field is required. Five (5) years previous experience in healthcare third-party billing and two (2) years supervisory experience and patient scheduling experience required.
This position requires strong customer service skills, analytical skills, knowledge of automated systems and Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of basic principles of accounting preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, front desk scheduling and computer experience a must. Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and skilled in prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, detailed knowledge and understanding of ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS coding classification systems, familiar with medical terminology and its applications, insurance rules and regulations. A good working knowledge of third party insurance is essential.
