Medical Practice Manaager- Medicine/Cardiology

 

Headquarters on The University of Maryland at Baltimore campus, near Camden Yards and Harbor attractions, University Physicians, Inc. (UPI) coordinates and supports the clinical activities of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. We employ over 900 non-physician staff who support the clinical practices of our faculty.

Currently, the Medicine/Cardiology Department is seeking a  Practice Manager for the University practice.

 

Duties will include: directing and coordinating all activities pertaining to a clinical practice through general or direct supervision of staff; responsible for patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, patient flow, and other reimbursement related activities; serving as the key liaison for new business ventures; keeping management and staff adequately informed of issues; serving as a liaison with managers of other departments and UPI Administrative staff; monitoring finances quarterly; implementing cost saving measures contributing to UPI financial targets; and other duties as assigned.  



 



Requirements


Qualified applicants will possess:  a Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university in Business Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum 5 years experience in health care; minimum 3 years management experience and at least 2 years administrative experience in managed care in either a provider or payer setting;  current knowledge of payer requirements; familiarity with ICD-9 and CPT coding; knowledge of IDX or similar computerized billing system; strong customer service and organizational skills; and strong PC proficiency.
