Medical Records Supervisor

Evanston Northwestern Healthcare’s Medical Records Department is seeking a Supervisor for our Evanston Hospital location.  In this role you will supervise department workflow and clerical operations which include but are not limited to: analysis, transcription, birth certificate completions, release of information, and merging. In addition this role will manage a front desk and act as a physician liaison regularly.

We have fully automated, electronic medical records system in place across all three of our hospitals and other offsites.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) benefit eligible position.  The hours are day shift hours Monday-Friday.  The role will require weekend hours on occasion to monitor and build rapport with the weekend staff.


In this role you will:

-Supervise department personnel
-Ensure timely completion of all functions for area supervised to meet department goals
-Measure and implement the performance standards for the department
-Manage and edit payroll system
-Manage the scheduling of staff and resources
-Hire, train, and evaluate the staff for area supervised




Our ideal candidate will have:


-High School graduate or equivalent
-Some college preferred
-RHIT or RHIA preferred
-2-3 years of Health Information Record Service experience
-2 years supervisory or lead experience required; proven managerial track record highly preferred
-Competent in Word, Excel, Viso, Access, and PowerPoint
