Harbor Medical Associates is a group of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and support staff dedicated to providing a broad spectrum of primary care services to patients in over ten South Shore communities. We are committed to the ideal that patient care comes first.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

Plans, coordinates and supervises Medical Records staff.

Assists with establishing policies and procedures for the distribution and use of medical records.

Supervises and trains / orients assigned personnel.

Assigns work, arranges for coverage and oversees daily operations.

Performance reviews for staff, recommends raises, promotions and disciplinary actions.

Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies for medical records and for ordering additional supplies when needed.

Make sure all paper filing is up to date / filed in charts.

Oversee preparation of new charts and make sure all charts are pulled and prepared ahead of time.

Work with telephone staff to make sure all charts are pulled for telephone calls.

Hold bi-weekly department meeting.

Responsible for daily troubleshooting.

Special projects as needed, i.e. purging files, updating records, etc.

Attends required meetings.

Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

 

Experience / Education:

Associates Degree / 2 years post-high school required (minimum).

Knowledge of the methods and procedures of health data systems and medical records coding, classification, indexing, quality control and assessment.

Knowledge of medical records regulations and laws regarding appropriate release of information.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients, physicians and public.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Knowledge of EMR ideal. 

 

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires prolonged standing or sitting, frequent bending, stooping, stretching and lifting.
