Medical Secretary/Transcriptionist

Kaiser Permanente is proud to be an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.  DEPARTMENT: HIM SCHEDULE:  Part-time, TEMPORARY; 20 hours/week; Day Shift; (Days and hours contingent upon departmental needs). LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 90 DaysEDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: High School Education or Equivalent; Completion of  Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology Courses; Word Processing (WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, etc.) CMT preferred SUMMARY: Transcribes inpatient/HAS medical reports including history and physical exams, operative reports, discharge summaries, and consultations in accordance with departmental standards and regulatory agency requirements.  Utilizes the Dictaphone VoiceWriter O/S Digital Dictation System and word processing software for transcription of reports in a timely fashion.  Assists physicians with training and use of equipment.  Assists in resolving dictation/equipment related problems. QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year experience transcribing both inpatient and outpatient medical reports (i.e.:  H&P, Operatives, Consultations, and Discharge Summaries); Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Parnership environment SKILLS TESTING: Must type 55 w.p.m.; Must pass typing and medical transcription tests. DUTIES:Transcribes dictated medical reports utilizing established report formats. Transcribes dictated medical reports utilizing established report formats. Maintains computerized log, assigns jobs, etc.  Utilizing the Lanier Management Console. Troubleshoots missing reports and processes STAT requests as requested.  Works with Medical Record Clerks and Assembler/Analysts in problem resolution. Assists physicians with equipment training and resolving equipment/dictation related problems. Types other reports and/or performs job-related typing as directed.  Performs other duties as assigned.
